Technology is part of just about every class in one way or another to make the class easier or make the material more relatable. In anatomy and physiology we watch videos on different surgeries. In my geometry class we had quizzes every week using the clicker system. For my composition class instead of going to the library we used online resources such as ebsco. Students can take classes that aren't offered at their school through distance learning. I think the advancement in technology has made our generation more capable of learning a larger variety of information. If you are interested in something you can go home and google it. If you can't understand it from that; you can youtube or read people's blogs that describe how they did it.
I think technology will continue to upgrade, and we will have to continually be refreshing ourselves on the latest equipment. I hope that they can find a way to make it cheaper-with the constant upgrades it would be very difficult for schools to keep up with the technology if they are so expensive. I think one idea that would be neat would be a whiteboard that is kind of like a touch screen so that after you write on it you can just push an "erase button" that would clear the whole screen.
Well Jessica Pinkerton I think your blog is very well written! First of all you are very right when you say technology is part of every class. It really is! Very good observation! Our generation has had so many oppurtunities when it comes to technology and the amount of information we can learn is amazing. We can only hope technology keeps getting better and better. I do wonder sometimes how can it better? It is already really great. But, I am sure it will! I do agree with you when you say you hope technology will get cheaper. ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading this blog and thinking about how dependent we are on technology today. I have never had a chance to use the iClicker in a classroom and am interested in trying it out in the future. I think you are really on to something with your last thoughts on the "erase button" used on a touchscreen whiteboard. In my senior math class our teacher had a board he wrote on with a magnetic pen. What he wrote was then projected onto a screen and he deleted or erased whenever he wanted. It was very similar to what you mentioned in your blog, and was a brand new technology just four years ago. I also agree that in the future we will be needing to constantly refresh our knowledge with the digital world to keep up with our students.
